Getting the Most From Your Treatment
- It is common to experience mild soreness at the injection site(s) for 24 to 48 hours. You can apply ice for 20 minutes at a time several times a day if needed.
- Unless otherwise advised, avoid applying heat to the injection site for 24 hours. No hot packs, saunas, or steam rooms during this time. Showering, swimming, and bathing are okay.
- You may have a period of slightly increased pain once the numbing medication wears off before the steroid takes effect. It is okay to take ibuprofen or Tylenol as recommended by your primary care.
- While you are not required to rest or lie down, we advise against strenuous or unusual activity for the first 24 hours following your injection.
- Please remove the sterile dressing/bandage if it becomes wet; otherwise, remove it before bedtime on the day of your injection.
